My beginning with crocheting

I started crocheting about 5 months ago with the help of one of my good friends and you could say I was "hooked" from the start! As some background, I first started crafting when I was about 8 years old when my mom and dad taught me how to knit. I not only started knitting scarves and wash clothes but I also started doing crafts at our day camp to make various different key chains and projects with string. From that point forward, I knew that my best craft was with anything related to string.

That being said, learning to crochet was MUCH harder than I thought it was going to be. I thought to myself "well I know how to knit so crochet can't really be that different!" I was not entirely that correct. There is more to crocheting than meets the eye.

I hope to use the fact that I am a new crocheter to help others learn to crochet. For me, I felt like it has been hard to watch other more experience crocheters show me how to crochet because it has been a while since they have been a beginner! I have found so many great resources to learn how to crochet and have appreciated the help that I have received from my friends (huge shout out to my friend, Bat) that I hope to create materials to help new crocheters learn how to troubleshoot their craft at this early stage like I am right now.

To get started, I wanted to share some materials that I felt like have been beneficial in starting to crochet! A lot of this is available on Amazon and Joanns. Check out my post on the Top 5 Things for Crochet Beginners to see things I started out with.

My plan going into 2024 is to use this blog to show my journey through learning more about how to better my crocheting craft. I hope to show how to better read patterns, crochet more complex stitches and maybe even create some patterns of my own!

Comment below if there is anything in particular that you would like to see. Happy Crocheting!
